Perplexity citations tracking

perplexitycitationsAnonymous

Perplexity is the cleanest citation parse in the set. Numbered citations are tied to specific sentences, so we can report which claim each source supports rather than only which sources appeared.

How it renders

Numbered inline markers mapped to a stable, ordered source list.

Sampling

Citation sets are the least stable field we return. The same prompt run n times will produce overlapping but non-identical URL sets, which is why we report frequency across samples rather than a list from one run.

Gotcha

Perplexity's citation quality tempts teams to over-weight it. Volume here is a fraction of the Google surfaces — weight it by your client's audience, not by how nice the data is.

What the API returns

A single collection call against Perplexity for the citations field, sampled n times and returned as one object per prompt.

They are structural. Numbered markers map to a stable source list, so extraction is reliable and claim-level attribution is possible.
Can you tell which sentence a citation supports?
